Projektbeschreibung

Ecological commercial building in Kreuzberg with energy recovery.

Alignment of the urban building block according to the geometry of the sun and greenhouses in flanks.

Designed as a compact urban studio and commercial building for the various departments of the Meta-Design graphic group and their immediate associates. The façades are developed differently and optimised for each specific situation:

On the north façade, suitable northern light is guided deep into the interior of the building by technical systems of light control (light louvres) and used as studio light; the user-specific functional façade thus ensures a maximum of naturally lit workplaces, and the appearance in the street space changes depending on the light.

The east and west façades, together with the intensive green roof, form the surrounding "green curtain" for the benefit of the employees; this accommodates an accessible intermediate space for short breaks and for ventilation and heat recovery in the building, and makes the spatial zones readable as an intersecting figure on the second level of perception.

The south façade functions as a spine to the narrow delivery courtyard ("backstage area") with the access and infrastructure functions as well as cross-storey chimneys to support the natural ventilation concept/shaft ventilation; here there are only isolated glass areas for selective lighting.

In terms of its energy balance, the building is directly oriented towards the specific users: Complete heat recovery takes place from the printing presses located in the basement and all servers and computers, unheated ancillary and circulation zones serve as climate buffers, the building has a favourable A-V ratio, high-quality façade technology as well as cross-storey ventilation zones ("greenhouses") on the front sides. The Venturi effect of the roof structures provides natural ventilation support.
